Simple oil change

If you do not want to get dirty then a oil change is best done by an official mechanic but there are ways to change your car oil by yourself.
If you are a person who has had a car for a long time, then you will know that you have to change the engine’s oil once in every 3 months or every time your car has been driven for three thousand miles. Even if you are not a person who is well seasoned with using cars, then this is a fact that you have to remember. There are times when you would not be able to change the engine’s oil till the car reaches about four thousand miles. This may not affect your car’s engine that very fast, but it still would be a good idea to change it sometime soon. If you live in a very hot, dry, arid and dusty area, then it would be best if you can actually change the oil right when you car has been driven for three thousand miles or even before that.
If you are not used to changing your car’s engine oil yourself and each time you had to spend a lot of money at the mechanic’s to have the oil changed, then this would be the place for you to learn how to do it yourself and save on the mechanic’s fee.
Before you go about changing your car’s engine oil all by yourself, it would be best if you have the necessary tools at hand. If changing your car oil is something that you are going to do regularly, then it is time that you bought your own oil drain pan, a socket set and a jack stand.
Once you have gotten all of this in place, you can then go ahead and start draining the car’s oil. Even before you drain the oil, it would be best that you run the car for five or ten minutes to ensure that the engine oil is warm since oil at higher temperatures drain faster than ones that are cold. Next you would have to make certain that the car is parked at an even level.
You would then have to go under your car and locate the screw that is on the engine to help remove the oil. Next you would have to place the drain pan under the engine, use the screw wrench to loosen the plug and then turn the bolts in the counterclockwise direction to remove them.
Once all of this is done, wait for the oil content in the engine to drain on to the pan. Wait till all the oil is drained and then wipe the plug and the nozzle clean. Next locate the oil filter that is on the side and remove it. Wipe all these areas clean with a rag and then install the new filter in place.
Now locate the oil filter cap on the top of the engine, unscrew and fill it with new oil. Next you would have to start the car and let it run for a minute. Later check the level of the oil with a dip stick and add more if necessary.
