This scanner performed well, accurately diagnosing/displaying trouble codes that caused my check engine light to come on. The Reader worked as promised. I was able to read out the codes and pinpoint my problem within a few minutes. The product comes with a PC program that can interpret the codes but the table printed in the maual was sufficient. The manual is also on the CD in case you lose it. I really like this item. Its really easy to use and does exactly what I needed it to do. The only reason I did not give it five stars was because you do have to look up the code in a book instead of it being on screen. The more expensive model has that feature but for the number of times I am actually going to use this I opted for the less expensive model. How complicated can it be, only having 2 buttons? The instructions are explicit in the order in which to do things and in their explanation of functions. This tool only gives you a code and a book to look up the code. The book doesn't explain in detail what the fault is. it's a vague description of the fault code. Gives you the basic trouble codes, enough to determine most problems and is very affordable. The cd that comes with it is tempermental and may not work well in some pc's but you really don't need the cd. Worked well on 2006 VW Golf, and 2005 Ford BAII Fairmont (Aussie).
Didn't work on 2005 E53 Mini Cooper S, or 2003 E39 BMW 525D
